The FINANCIAL — Eighty new jobs are being created at Dublin Airport with the opening of a new restaurant.
Marqette, an exciting new food and beverage area will open at the end of August in Terminal 1 at Dublin Airport. Recruitment for the new positions is now underway.
The new dining area is being modelled on an outdoor food market, offering locally sourced produce and fresh artisan breads baked on site. The restaurant, which is currently under construction, is located after the security screening area in Terminal 1, according to Dublin Airport.
The new restaurant area will cater for over 260 people and will feature a vintage Citroen van selling freshly-made omelettes and crêpes.
“Marqette will offer passengers a fantastic range of freshly prepared food options in an earthy rustic setting,” according to Dublin Airport’s Food and Beverage Manager, Brendan Dee.
“The restaurant has been designed specifically for good customer flow to ensure people are served quickly,” said Mr Dee.
“We are really excited to move into the recruitment phase of this project,” said Marqette General Manager Michael Thornton. “The airport is a dynamic, fast paced environment with thousands of passengers looking for quality food and beverage before they fly every day. We’re looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic people for over 80 positions in a range of areas to ensure excellent service and quality is delivered to those passengers,” he added.
The 80 new jobs being created by Marqette will further expand Dublin Airport’s already significant economic impact.
A major economic study produced earlier this year found that Dublin Airport supports and facilitates up to 97,4000 jobs in the Irish economy and this activity is worth €6.9 billion to the Irish economy. The airport directly supports a total of 15,700 jobs on the airport campus and at airport related businesses, the study concluded.
Dublin Airport, which is celebrating its 75th birthday this year, has flights to 167 destinations. It welcomed almost 22 million passengers in 2014, and has seen passenger numbers increase by 15% in the first five months of this year. The major increase in passenger numbers means that Dublin Airport has already welcomed more than 1.1 million extra passengers so far this year.
Marqette is looking for exceptional people to join its team with a range of positions available such as chefs, kitchen porters, barristas, bar staff, supervisors, managers and floor staff at all levels.
Recruitment open days will be held in the Maldron Hotel, Dublin Airport from 12pm to 8pm today, Tuesday 23 and Thursday 24 June.
