The FINANCIAL — The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is ready to assign USD 400 million or USD 450 million for modernisation of Ukraine's gas-transportation system, EBRD President Thomas Mirow has told a news conference.
The EBRD will allocate the money under certain conditions, specifically provision of state guarantees for this loan.
Moreover, Mr Mirow noted the EBRD keeping up with the 2010 plans to invest not less than EUR 1.1 billion in projects in Ukraine.
The EBRD President says this year they are projecting between EUR 200 million and EUR 225 million of investments in completion of the construction of the Kyiv – Chop highway.
In his words, to accomplish this project they need EUR 1 billion in all, of which the EBRD is about to grant EUR 450 million, the European Investment Bank EUR 450 million and the Ukrainian government EUR 100 million.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development observed a record amount of investments in Ukrainian projects, EUR 1.5 billion, in 2009.
