The FINANCIAL — The Siemens Industry Solutions Division has received an order from the Moroccan company Ciments du Maroc, Casablanca, to supply electrical equipment for the new cement works at Ait Baha near Agadir, Morocco. The order, valued at around nine million euros, also includes installation services. Commissioning is scheduled for the end of August 2009.
The Moroccan cement manufacturer Ciments du Maroc, a member of the Italcementi Group, Italy, is building a cement works at Ait Baha, near Agadir in the south of Morocco. The works will have a capacity of some 2.2 million tonnes of cement and 1.6 million tonnes of clinker per year. Ciments du Maroc wants to use this to meet the growing demand in the country, which primarily comes from expansion of the transport infrastructure, housing construction projects and greater investment in the tourism industry.
Siemens is supplying electrical equipment for the new cement works, among other things the cables for medium and low-voltage distribution including cable ducts, the uninterruptible power supply (UPS), exterior lighting, switchgear cabinets for interior and exterior lighting, the fire alarm and telephone systems and distribution cabinets. The scope of supply also includes installation services for the distribution transformer, the motor control center, the switchgear cabinets, the telephone and fire alarm systems and the instrumentation.
