The FINANCIAL — Forest fires in Russia have caused smoke over Kharkiv region, according to the Main Department of the Ministry of Emergencies and Affairs of Population Protection from the Consequences of Chornobyl Catastrophe of Ukraine.
Residents of Kharkiv and Kharkiv region called 101 worrying about smoke in the city and the region on August 14, the statement circulated by the Main Department of the Ministry of Emergencies and Affairs of Population Protection from the Consequences of Chornobyl Catastrophe of Ukraine reads.
"The Main Department of the Ministry of Emergencies and Affairs of Population Protection from the Consequences of Chornobyl Catastrophe of Ukraine in Kharkiv region urges all Kharkiv dwellers not to spread panic. Mist and small smog resulted from peat bog fires in the territory of Voronezh and Ryazan regions of the Russian Federation," the statement said.
This information has been proved by weather centers of Kharkiv region and Belgorod region (Russia), according to the statement.
The smog will pose no threat to lives and health of people.
There are no big fires in Kharkiv region although small fires of dry grass and coniferous litter occur, but firefighters extinguish them in shortest possible time, the Main Department of the Ministry of Emergencies and Affairs of Population Protection from the Consequences of Chornobyl Catastrophe of Ukraine said.
As Ukrainian News reported, the Ministry of Emergencies and Affairs of Population Protection from the Consequences of Chornobyl Catastrophe of Ukraine in early August considered the reasons for fire smog in Kyiv and Chernihiv regions behind forest fires in Russia.
