The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in its operational update as of 06:00, October 25, which was posted on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
According to the General Staff, the enemy is trying to hold the temporarily captured territories, focusing its efforts on attempts to disrupt the actions of the Defense Forces in certain directions, and is conducting offensive operations in the Bakhmut and Avdiivka directions.
In the past 24 hours, the Defense Forces of Ukraine have repelled attacks by the occupiers in the areas of Bilohorivka of Luhansk region and Bakhmut, Bilohorivka, Verkhniokamianske, Ivanhrad, Klishchiivka, Spirne, Soledar, Maryinka, Nevelske of Donetsk region.
The Russian forces are shelling the positions of Ukrainian troops along the contact line and conducting aerial reconnaissance.
The enemy continues to violate the norms of International Humanitarian Law, the laws and customs of war, attacking the civilian infrastructure and civilian residential areas.
In the past 24 hours, the invaders launched 3 missile attacks and 12 airstrikes, more than 60 MLRS attacks.
The enemy struck objects of civil infrastructure in the settlements of Vuhledar and Neskuchne of Donetsk region, Nova Kamianka of Kherson region and Mykolaiv.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the situation has not changed significantly. There is still a threat of missile and airstrikes on the critical infrastructure of Ukraine from the territory of the Republic of Belarus, including the use of Iranian-made UAVs.
A retreat from Kherson and other areas on the Dnieper’s west bank would shatter Russian hopes to press an offensive west to Mykolaiv and Odesa to cut off Ukraine’s access to the Black Sea. Such a move would deal a devastating blow to its economy. It would also allow Moscow to potentially build a land corridor to the separatist Transnistria region of Moldova, home to a crucial Russian military base.
For Ukraine, capturing Kherson would set the stage for reclaiming the Russia-held part of the Zaporizhia region and other areas in the south, and eventually pushing back into Crimea.

in the Severskyi direction, the emery struck the areas of Senkivka of Chernihiv region and Rozhkovychi, Sosnivka and Velyka Pysarivka of Sumy region.

In the Southern Bug direction, more than 20 settlements came under enemy fire, including Bilohirka, Davydiv Brid, Myrne, Sukhyi Stavok and Ternovi Pody.
According to available information, the enemy is fortifying defensive positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson region. For example, in the area of Hornostaivka, engineer and sapper units of the Russian occupation forces mine the coastline, leaving small passages for a potential retreat of their troops from the right bank.
