The FINANCIAL — “Something new is coming to Entrée – we are now offering French wine and champagnes for the pleasure of our customers,” said Jean Michel Charles, co-founder of Entrée to The FINANCIAL.
“Wine for us – French people is similar to a beautiful lady. It needs the same respect, same attention and same love to open its hurt and compliment us with the best aroma and characteristics it has. You always have to be careful with wine and keep it in good conditions. This is the specification of France talking about wine and wine culture,” Mr. Charles added.

The company will be introducing the following: Muscat – Beaumes de Venise; Champagne Reserve; Champagne – Extra; Sancerre – Les Hautes vignes; Chabis – La Pierle.
“This is just the first step we are taking in offering wine, later on we might consider introducing some red wines also. However we won’t become huge wine sellers as we will just be offering wine that complements our menu and products. Our main direction remains pastry, the bakery and café, and wine is just an addition to our assortment for the added pleasure of the customer,” Mr. Charles explained.
The wine and champagne are for buying and taking away rather than consuming in the shop.
“Georgia is a cradle of the wine and everybody knows that wine culture originated in Georgia. In France we have been working on wine for 2,000 years already and we have our own culture of wine production. France is very famous for the different types of wine produced in its different regions. In the north, south, east and west of France we have completely different climates, completely different regions, soil types, terrain, and environment. All of these factors combined make completely different wines in the different regions,” said Mr. Charles.
Together with the arrival of spring and summer seasons Entrée is offering a wide variety of new products. “At the moment we are preparing new cold drinks like: ice coffee and Fresh milkshakes with different flavors, for the summer time. We are also preparing summer cakes and pastries with different fruits, and new salads of course,” Mr. Charles said.
According to the season Entrée always has a full range of seasonal production according to what fresh fruits are available in Georgia at the time. “As in Georgia we have excellent fruits in terms of their quality and taste we want to use these fruits in our pastry, particularly during the strawberry and apricot seasons,” said Mr. Charles.
Entrée has started developing a new format of Mini Entrée shops. The new concept will be found in several places in Tbilisi. The first Mini Entrée will be opened in Bagebi within a 6-8 week period of time.
Mini Entrée will be more compact in terms of square metres. The assortment will be a little bit different from Entrée cafes, not everything will be available there as at Mini Entrée more focus will be on adapting to the district it is located in.
“The Mini Entrée concept is underway. We are starting to prepare the first one in Bagebi. This is a new generation of Entrée – a new concept. We are sure this will be very successful and we intend to set up Mini Entrée all over Tbilisi,” said Mr. Charles.
The company is focused on a strategy of expansion. According to Mr. Charles the company intends to open a chain in Baku, Azerbaijan and Kiev and Donetsk in Ukraine.
“We are in the process of final negotiations and as we are dealing with big investments we have to secure them. We are a very small team and we have to manage development in Georgia in terms of introducing new products as well as increasing assortment. At the same time as caring for the Georgian market we must step by step expand outside its borders too,” said Mr. Charles.
