The FINANCIAL — Ericsson has been selected by Telkomsel, Indonesia’s largest mobile operator, for a full radio transformation in Indonesia’s Kalimantan region.
The upgrade will ensure that Telkomsel’s network is equipped with multi-standard radio base stations for GSM and WCDMA/HSPA(3G) that can meet the rapidly increasing data demands and boost mobile broadband network performance, while making it ready for 4G/LTE.
The transformation project includes the introduction of Ericsson’s RBS 6320, a low-cost, main remote enclosure product, developed for tropical climates, according to Ericsson.
Thomas Jul, Head of Ericsson Indonesia and Timor-Leste, says: “The transformation of Telkomsel’s network will ensure its mobile data subscribers, especially those living in dense areas, will benefit from faster speeds and better network performance. This contract makes us a key partner for Telkomsel through this transformation and further strengthens our longstanding relationship.”
