The FINANCIAL — Georgian Railway is getting to know experience of National Railway Company of France (SNCF).
A group of experts of the railway company of France is consulting Georgian colleagues in establishing European instructions and carrying out structural reforms.
Frederic Parde, director of international projects of SNCF, noted that the world goes global and all companies should be adapted to new reality.
“There are excellent opportunities to introduce the company onto international level, however, this is not easy affair. Time is required. France passed this stage in 20 years. We explained to Georgian partners that it is difficult, but interesting process to penetrate international markets.
Akaki Saghirashvili, head of corporate management department of Georgian Railway noted that the meeting of Georgian and French railway experts proceeds in bilateral discussions.
Georgian and French railway specialists make accents on EU instruction N34 for structural reformation of railway. Georgian Railway experts are being consulted by experts of Europe’s one of the successful models – national railway company of France (SNCF).
“As part of EU TAIEX program, we are hosting French specialists and French railway experts share experience in etablishing EU instructions”.
Saghirashvili told BPI that as part of EU association agreement, Georgia has assumed responsibility for establishing instructions and regulations in transportation field.
These obligations include 3 regulations and 5 instructions. In whole, 8 normative acts should be established in railway sector. Georgian railway should establish these instructions by 2021 and the company is carrying out corresponding measures, including the company has already prepared a package of legislative amendments.
EU regulations mainly refer to passenger rights, while instructions cover safety, licensing, market opening and competition issues.
