When you go on holiday, there are two parts: the good part – the actual holiday – and the not so good part – packing and unpacking. We have to admit that as exciting as our trip is, preparing for it can be very stressful. “Did I pack everything?”, “Did I forget anything?” are just two questions you’ll ask yourself when packing for your next holiday. And even if you’ve finished packing and managed to take everything you need with you, when you come back from your holiday you’ll have to unpack – quite a tiring task.
But let’s get back to packing. You’ve packed your favourite clothes and shoes, you’ve taken some medicines and personal hygiene items with you, and you’ve packed the gadgets you can’t live without. Think you’re done? Far from it. When you go on holiday, you’ll also need to take cash or cards with you, as well as documents. If you’re going by car, you’ll need your driving licence and car documents. If you’re going to another country, you’ll also need your passport, and if you want to go to Canada, you’ll need an ETA Canada application – a document you can use to enter this country.
What is eTa Canada
eTa Canada or Electronic Travel Authorization for Canada is a tourist visa you need if you want to travel to Canada. It is obtained by filling in an online form with your personal details, passport details and contact details. You will therefore need a valid passport to obtain this electronic authorisation. In addition, you will need to have a debit or credit card with which to pay the fee online.
eTa Canada application
As previously mentioned, to get eTa Canada, you will need to complete an online application. You will be able to complete the application within 5 minutes and then you will receive the electronic authorization by email (even though the existence of the authorization can be verified through your passport, it is advisable to print a copy to take with you). The authorisation is generally issued within 24 hours. However, it is advisable to complete the application at least 72 hours before departure to avoid delays.
eTa Canada Validity
eTa Canada is only valid for certain trips, i.e. business travel, tourism travel, medical travel or training travel. The eTa Canada authorisation can be used for uninterrupted stays of up to 6 months and is valid for 5 years (or until the passport expires). Basically, for 5 years you can enter Canada as often as you like, as long as your stay is up to 6 months. If you want to stay longer than 6 months in Canada, you’ll need a visa. Another important thing to know is that your eTa Canada data must be up to date.
So eTa Canada is a document issued by the Government of Canada that allows citizens of eligible countries to enter Canada without a visa.
