The FINANCIAL — Etihad Airways has won the prestigious ‘Airline of the Year’ title at the Travel Trade Gazette (TTG) awards in the United Kingdom. The awards ceremony was held at the famous Lyceum Theatre in London.
Peter Baumgartner, Chief Commercial Officer at Etihad Airways, said: “We are delighted to have been recognised by the Travel Trade Gazette and UK travel trade, who have voted Etihad Airways as the ‘Airline of the Year’.
“Etihad Airways is proud to maintain a strong partnership with the UK’s travel trade, a partnership which has been in place since we launched our first flights to and from London Heathrow in 2004. The TTG award is a tremendous accolade for Etihad Airways because the UK is one of the world’s most competitive markets.”
Etihad Airways currently operates six daily services into the UK, with direct routes to London Heathrow, Manchester and Edinburgh, which launched on 8 June this year. London Heathrow was also chosen as the first destination for Etihad Airways’ ground-breaking Airbus A380 when the aircraft was introduced into service at the end of 2014, according to Etihad Airways.
The Etihad Airways A380 offers ‘The Residence by Etihad’ – the world’s only private three-room cabin on a commercial aircraft, which features a living room, separate en-suite shower room, double bedroom and a dedicated Savoy-trained Butler – as well as First Apartments, Business Studios and Economy SmartSeats. The airline also operates luxurious premium lounges at Manchester and London Heathrow airports.
Etihad Airways was also credited at the TTG awards for its dedicated year-round program, ‘SuperSeller’, which is accessed by 2,500 registered agents in the UK. In the last year, Etihad Airways also hosted promotional campaigns, including a mileage ‘Millionaire’ competition and a ‘Winning Reimagined’ campaign with the opportunity to win hundreds of luxury prizes, in support of Etihad’s day-to-day trade marketing activity.
