The FINANCIAL — Safe drinking water has been provided to over 42,000 people in government-controlled areas and 3,300 people in non-government-controlled areas in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk and Luhansk regions in a UNICEF project funded by the European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection Department (ECHO).
In addition, UNICEF provided hygiene supplies and disseminated important hygiene information to approximately 15,000 people in government-controlled areas and 23,000 in non-government-controlled areas. Altogether, over 84,000 people including 46,000 children were direct beneficiaries of the project, for which ECHO provided €500,000, according to EU Neighbourhood Info Centre.
“Thanks to this EU contribution, we have supported the most vulnerable children and women, including children in institutions, families living in bomb shelters, internally displaced people, and those who remain in the conflict-affected areas,” said Giovanna Barberis, UNICEF Representative in Ukraine.
