The FINANCIAL — Around 80 young people from the Eastern Partner countries and Visegrad group have arrived in Georgia to participate in an EU summer camp in Bazaleti resort near Tbilisi.
Over six days the participants, aged 16-22, will use art to discuss European values and intercultural dialogue. The camp is organised by the EU, the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs of Georgia, LEPL Children and the Georgian Youth National Centre.
The camp’s activities will aim at strengthening intercultural dialogue and raising youth awareness about European values through different forms of art. The participants will benefit from facilitated inter-cultural dialogue, various art workshops, masterclasses, networking and civic skill development, according to EU Neighbours East Info.
“The European Union has been always at the forefront to bring people together, making the most of their diverse cultures,” said the Head of Cooperation of the EU Delegation to Georgia, Vincent Rey. “Next to the well known programmes like Erasmus student exchanges, this camp is another example of this, bringing together youth from various countries with a common aim, in line with the EU’s motto of United in Diversity.”
The summer camp is a pilot phase of the European Eastern Partnership School, a joint initiative of the European Union and the Government of Georgia, which will promote European values as well as cooperation and exchanges within the region. The School is expected to start from September 2018. According to the EU press release, it will be a beacon of excellence for pupils from Georgia and the other five Eastern Partner countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine).
