The FINANCIAL — Eighteen officers from Georgia’s Migration Department have received training in the Netherlands from members of the Dutch Migration Department on the topic of efficient management of migrant accommodation centres. The training was conducted under the EU-funded project on Capacity Building of the State in Border and Migration Management, implemented by the IOM.
During the 5-day training, participants discussed issues connected with the medical service at the migrants’ temporary accommodation centre, management in crisis situations, as well as matters such as conflict avoidance and increasing good communication between those working and staying in the centre, according to EU Neighbourhood Info.
The EU has a strategic partnership with the IOM, based on a shared interest in bringing the benefits of well-managed international migration to migrants and society. It also serves as a basis for exchange, development and structuring of the relationship between the EU and IOM. In the Neighbourhood East, common projects include developing effective readmission mechanisms in the South Caucasus and supporting the Eastern Partnership Panel on Migration and Asylum.
