The FINANCIAL — Ukrainian border guards were given advice on carrying out risk assessments at a training seminar held in the country’s capital of Kyiv on 3-5 October.
The event was organised by the EU Advisory Mission Ukraine (EUAM) and delivered by two experts from the Border Guard Service of Lithuania, according to EU Neighbours East Info.
Fourteen analytical officers from the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine – five from its headquarters in Kyiv and nine from the regions – took part in the training, which aimed to help border guards to assess vulnerabilities when carrying out risk assessments at the country’s borders with EU countries. According to the EUAM’s press release, the participants presented the main threats to Ukraine’s border security so that the guests from the EU could better tailor the programme to their needs.
The EUAM and the Border Guard Service of Lithuania are eventually planning to help their Ukrainian colleagues to develop a curriculum to train border guards in Ukraine in how to use the CIRAM 2.0 model. It is planned that Ukraine will adopt this model by the end of 2018.
