The FINANCIAL — Last year was a period of political stability for Moldova, in which the government worked steadily on the country´s European Agenda, according to the 2015 ENP Country Progress Report, taking stock of relations over 2014.
The year saw the signature of the Association Agreement including Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (AA/DCFTA), and a new visa-free regime, which saw 360,000 persons travel visa-free to the EU.
Moldova advanced on human rights and fundamental freedoms, while media enjoyed a good level of freedom. There was also progress on justice reform, though corruption remained an issue.
In 2014, EU funding through the European Neighbourhood Instrument amounted to €131 million to support implementation of the DCFTA, public finance reform, agriculture and rural development.
Among recommendations for the year to come are action on corruption, continued justice reforms and improvements in corporate governance.
