The FINANCIAL — Kids at “Kalynka” kindergarten in Slavutych, Ukraine, will benefit from warmer premises this winter. With EU support, the site has been fully refurbished, using state of the art energy efficiency technology.
The transformation is only possible thanks to the Covenant of Mayors Demonstration Projects (CoM-DeP) programme and involves replacing windows with new energy efficient ones, introducing thermal insulation and installing a new ventilation system, according to EU Neighbours East Info.
The results will not only benefit the kids at “Kalynka”. By cutting energy usage, the city administration will make financial savings too. This will be the first kindergarten in Slavutych to meet EU energy efficiency standards.
The Covenant of Mayors – Demonstration Projects (CoM-DeP) is a European Union programme in the EaP countries, which supports small towns in the Covenant of Mayors initiative to implement energy efficiency projects identified within their Sustainable Energy Action Plans (SEAPs). The programme provides grants and technical assistance. The support team of the CoM-DeP provides grants to 19 selected projects, as well as technical, procedural and communication assistance.
