The FINANCIAL — Improved safety and security in the Georgian civil aviation system, assistance with the transposition of the relevant European standards into Georgia’s system – these are some examples of the results achieved by an EU-supported twinning project which has just ended in the country.
The 26-month project helped the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency (GCAA) to adopt the European regulations and requirements stemming from the Common Aviation Area Agreement, according to EU Neighbours East Info.
“While there is always room left to strengthen the aviation sector, we can say that up to now the Aviation Agency has been considerably reinforced and modernized,” said Kaido Sirel, Deputy Head of Cooperation of the Delegation EU to Georgia.
Twinning is a European Union-funded instrument which brings together public sector expertise from EU Member States and beneficiary countries with the aim of achieving concrete results through peer-to-peer activities.
