The FINANCIAL — On 16–19 August, the south Ukrainian town of Chernomorsk, in the Odesa region, will host the 16th Koktebel Jazz Festival, an international music festival.
This is the largest open-air music festival in Ukraine, with a rich, 15-year history of presenting established jazz performers and diverse faces of traditional jazz from across the globe.
With the support of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, the festival will host a ‘European Creative Zone’. Here, visitors will be able to learn new facts about the EU, European values and culture, enjoy free Wi-Fi, relax on star-shaped beanbags under a shaded tent, and participate in other activities.
“We invite you to visit our European Creative Zone at the festival and learn more about the EU cultural heritage as well as just relax and enjoy music,” Jurgis Vilčinskas, Head of Press and Information Section of the EU Delegation to Ukraine said ahead of the festival. “Bring your whole family with you – everyone, regardless of age, will find something for themselves. Look for the sign ‘Europe starts here’.”
The festival will present jazz in its alternative forms on four stages: Nu Jazz, Jazz & Blues Cafe, Open Stage and Special Stage. More than 40 artists will perform at the festival, including Morcheeba (UK), Onuka (UA), Oleg Skrypka (UA) and many other performers from Ukraine and Europe.
The activities at the Koktebel Jazz Festival 2018 will be held with the support of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, as part of the celebration of the European Year of Cultural Heritage.
