The FINANCIAL — EU High Representative Federica Mogherini and Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy Johannes Hahn have welcomed the appointment of Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici and the formation of the government in Moldova, noting that “we are looking forward to continuing our cooperation and swiftly implementing our Association Agreement to the benefit of the people.”

In a joint statement issued yesterday, they said: “We trust that the new government will step up its efforts on key reforms, especially in the justice and financial sectors and on fighting corruption, in the interest of all Moldovans.”

They underlined the EU’s support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova with a special status for Transnistria, calling “to intensify efforts towards reaching a comprehensive, peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict”, according to EU Neighbourhood Info Centre.
