The FINANCIAL — Most European Affluents are satisfied with their own financial situation, but they are less content with the current economic situation in Europe and in their own country in general.
When asked how the situation will develop within in 6 months, the wealthier Europeans remain skeptical: the economic situation in their own country and their own financial position are expected to be ‘about the same’, according to Ipsos.

8 in 10 Affluents describe their own financial situation as (somewhat) good, which is much higher than amongst non-Affluents (64%). Affluents from Nordic countries, Germany and Austria are most positive about their own personal situation. Russian Affluents are least happy with their personal situation.
Most Affluents believe the economy in Europe is ‘(somewhat) bad’

60% of the Affluents rate the current economy in Europe as ‘(somewhat) bad’, while among non-Affluents this is 50%. 1 in 3 Affluents believes the European economy is ‘(somewhat) good’. This also goes for non-Affluents. Eastern European Affluents are most positive about the European economy.
Affluents are inconclusive about economy in own country

Nearly 1 out of 2 Affluents (47%) consider the economic situation in their country of residence is ‘(somewhat) bad’. An equal share believes it is ‘(somewhat) good’. In general, Affluents are more positive about the economy in their own country than non-Affluents (41%). Swiss and German Affluents are most pleased with the economy in their own country, while Portuguese Affluents are least happy.
Affluents don’t expect (large) economic growth

Most Affluents (50%) predict the economy in their country of residence will be ‘about the same’ in 6 months. 1 in 5 (21%) expects the economy of their motherlands to become ‘(somewhat) stronger’. Affluents are just as positive about economic growth as non-affluents. 18% of non-affluents believe the country’s economy will be ‘(much) stronger’ in 6 months. Dutch and Irish Affluents are most positive about their countries’ economic future.

The majority of the Affluents (59%) believe their own financial situation will be stable in the next 6 months. However, they are more optimistic than the non-affluents. 1 in 4 (27%) expects to have a (much) stronger financial position in the next 6 months. This is just 18% among non-Affluents. Irish Affluents are most positive about the future of their own personal finances.
