The FINANCIAL — A delegation of the Security and Defence Subcommittee of the European Parliament have condemned the illegal annexation of Crimea and the ongoing Russian aggression, as part of a visit to Ukraine on 1-4 November 2016.
The MEPs also called upon all relevant EU institutions to make visa liberalisation a reality for the citizens of Ukraine.
The delegation received a comprehensive briefing in Kyiv about the work of the EU Advisory Mission in Ukraine. Members highlighted the importance of the mission for the success of the ongoing reform process in the civilian security sector, according to EU Neighbours East Info.
During the field visit the delegation met with the Governor of the Donetsk Oblast, Anti Terrorist Operations staff officers and representatives of the OSCE’s Special Monitoring Mission in Kramatorsk, in order to obtain first hand information about the security situation in the region. The security situation in Eastern Ukraine and the visa liberalisation agreement were high on the agenda of the latest talks between the European Parliament and the Ukrainian authorities that took place in Kyiv and Kramatorsk in the Eastern Ukraine.
The delegation also visited Maidan Square to pay tribute to all those who gave their lives for freedom, dignity and common European values.
