The FINANCIAL — A one-off event allowing business leaders and senior executives to be guided by a world-class academic research team in how to create and apply service-led business models to their companies will be hosted by Aston University next month.
The Advanced Services Global Forum, to be held on Tuesday 26th April in Aston Business School, is specially tailored for business leaders who are designing an advanced services strategy.
This hands-on event includes a 3 hour workshop session on designing a services-led customer value proposition and developing a strategy to implement this, according to Aston Business School.
Each attendee will devise an offering they can take back to their business for immediate implementation. The focus of the offering is on helping the customer to improve their competitiveness rather than just engaging in a single transaction through the sale of a physical product. Research by Aston Business School has shown that this kind of business model can help companies to achieve annual growth of 5-10%.
Over 35 businesses have already registered for the forum which will bring together organisations big and small, fostering networking and knowledge sharing, within a world class business school.
The forum is hosted by Aston Business School’s Advanced Services Group, which has now worked with over 100 businesses worldwide on the implementation of advanced services.
Speakers at the morning sessions include Des Evans, former CEO of MAN Truck & Bus UK who will explain how one of the UK’s leading truck manufacturers transformed itself through the process of servitization and went from being a £50m revenue business to a £500m revenue business.
Aston Business School alumnus Alex Bill, now Productivity Improvement Manager, GE Power, who specialises in advanced services supporting gas turbine and combined cycle power plants, will also share his insights into the services-led value proposition of Alstom Power (now GE Power).
Chair Professor Tim Baines is the leading international authority on servitization and spends much of his time working hands-on with both global and local manufacturing companies to understand servitization in practice and help to transform businesses.
Talking about the event, he said:
“The Advanced Services Global Forum is a unique and unparalleled opportunity for businesses to benefit from world-leading experts who can translate servitization and business model design theory into a relevant and succinct guide for practitioners. The Aston team will lead delegates through a carefully orchestrated workshop that applies the leading practices in business model design to innovate and implement an advanced service model for their business.”
Aston Business School is located in the heart of the UK’s industrial base in Birmingham and is easy to access with excellent road and rail transport links.
