The FINANCIAL — Two events highlighting cooperation between the EU and the Eastern Partnership (EaP) in the fight against irregular migration take place in Tbilisi this week, organised by the EU-funded project EaP SIPPAP, according to EU Neighbourhood Info Centre.
The first – the Signing Ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation among training institutions – brings together representatives of 10 project partners and of national border management authorities from EaP countries. The aim of the Memorandum is to provide a legal and institutional framework for strengthening and facilitating cooperation in the field of training of border guards.
The second event is the project’s Final Conference, which will present the achievements of the 2-year project as well as discuss the way forward. It brings together high-level representatives, senior officials and project focal points from EaP countries.
The EaP SIPPAP (Supporting the Implementation of the Prague Process Action Plan) project contributes to strategic and operational cooperation in the EaP region in the area of cross-border crime prevention, with a special focus on irregular migration. The project builds on the achievements of the South Caucasus IBM project (SCIBM), operational experiences of the Eastern Partnership – IBM Flagship Initiative Training project (EaP IBM FIT) and bilateral discussions between EU and EaP countries.
