The FINANCIAL — China representative, Elaine Yi Long, has been crowned this year’s Young Tax Professional of The Year at the international final in Amsterdam. Elaine will gain hands-on experience at EY Tax Centers in London, New York, Washington DC and Hong Kong as part of a 30-day global tour.
Hungary representative, Tunde Petra Borsos, took the second prize, a 10-day visit to one of EY’s Area Tax Centers, while Archit Jhingon of India was awarded the third prize, an invitation to participate in an EY international client conference. The Inclusive Leadership Award went to Daniel Dias from South Africa for demonstrating the most inclusive leadership behavior among his peers, according to EY.
Young Tax Professional of the Year was established by EY to reward and foster the next generation of tax leaders. All of the competitors are selected in their home countries by EY in collaboration with local universities, and finalists hold their respective country titles.
Now with the highest number of participants since the event began in 2010, this year saw representatives from 25 countries convene to participate in technical workshops, case studies and interviews before a judging panel, which included EY leaders, academics and tax directors from major multinational companies.
Jim Tobin, event sponsor and EY US International Tax Leader, says:
“Here at EY, we strongly believe in promoting the emergence of new talent. Now with more competitors than ever before, the Young Tax Professional of the Year experience is a truly global opportunity for the next generation of young professionals to shine. We hope all of the 2015 country winners will be motivated to go on to represent the future leaders of our profession.”
In recent years, the Young Tax Professional of the Year Final has established itself as one of the most unique events of its kind, drawing the International Tax Review European Client Connection Award 2014 in recognition of its “outstanding and innovative quality.”
