The FINANCIAL — Many restaurants, hotels, cafes and bars in Tbilisi will be offering special programmes to entertain the public this Christmas/New Year period.
Mtatsminda Park has a special programme for children on the days following New Year. The opening of the New Year celebration is scheduled for January 1. January 2 is ‘Pantomime Day’. There will be regular pantomime and sculpture shows going on at the park over the course of the day. January 3 is the ‘Festival of Masks’. January 4 is ‘Day of Magic’. Magicians will hold a show in the park’s amphitheatre. January 5 is ‘Ice Festival Day’. January 6 is ‘Eurovision Day’ – the winning Georgian girl group will perform a concert then. And the last day of the festival is January 7, which is ‘Elves Day’.
In the Rustaveli, Amirani and Saqartvelo cinemas movies and cartoons will be shown for the entertainment of children. These will include Happy Feet Two and The Adventure of Ano and Vano.
Children’s entertainment company Neverland Georgia will hold New Year shows at Rustaveli theatre twice a day. They are also attending end of term school performances.
Demand for ‘Santa Service’, where people in festive costume visit private addresses, has increased this year. “We already have orders. Demand lasts from 25 December to 2 January, and then finally on 13 January,” Giorgi, 27, told The FINANCIAL.
A Santa Claus costume for children cost 15 GEL at supermarket Goodwill. There are also special singing hats for 32 GEL and a dancing Santa Claus whose price starts from 12.50 GEL. Super is offering the perfect Christmas present for children – safe rackets for kids, which can be used indoors and are made of paper, prices start from 7 GEL.
