SWAMPSCOTT, MA — Independence Day is quickly approaching, which means it’s time to figure out a plan for watching Fourth of July fireworks and festivities in and around Swampscott in 2023.
We’ve rounded up all the fireworks shows, parades and festivals happening near Swampscott you can start planning now — whether you want to stay local or travel to another show nearby.
The skies of Marblehead will light up on July 3 with fireworks fired off from a barge in Marblehead Harbor at the Commercial Street wharf at about 9:15 p.m. on July 4.
The Swampscott/Lynn Fireworks Celebration will be on July 5 with a party on the Town Hall Lawn. The fireworks were postponed from Monday because of rain concerns. The town lawn party begins at 5 with fireworks to follow at 9.
Of course, the traditional Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular — the biggest July 4 event in the state — at the Hatch Memorial Shell on the Charles River Esplanade will be the main event this year. The orchestra will start around 8 p.m., with fireworks going off around 10:30 p.m. to
Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture.
As many in the state know, fireworks are illegal in Massachusetts, and so we’re including only shows that have been licensed by the state Department of Fire Services. These fireworks shows
include events that take place before and after July 4.
