The FINANCIAL — According to the European Commission, as of April 8, 2016, Ukraine supplied 922.2 thsd tonnes of wheat and wheat flour using the quotas for duty-free imports to the EU-28, which is 97% of the general quota volumes – 950 thsd tonnes. At the same time, in the reporting period the maximum shipment volumes were recorded in the first week of the current year, and reached 295.4 thsd tonnes.
Also, in the first week Ukraine completely covered the quotas for duty-free supplies of corn to the EU, which totaled 400 thsd tonnes. It should be noted that in the current season, Ukraine is actively exporting the reporting grain to European countries. So, in October-March period Ukraine exported more than 6.8 mln tonnes of corn to the EU, including 3 mln tonnes in January-March of 2016.
As for the quotas for supplies of Ukrainian barley to the EU, traders do not actively use them, and the export supplies mainly depend on the situation development. As of April 8, 2016, Ukraine exported 10.9 thsd tonnes of barley only to the EU-28, or 4.4% of the quota index for duty-free supplying (250 thsd tonnes).
