The FINANCIAL — Two thousand HGVs (TIR trucks) have formed a forty-five kilometre queue in Dorohusk, eastern Poland, according to Polskie Radio.
It is estimated that the waiting time to cross the border is around seventy five hours.
Polish Radio Lublin was informed about the queue by the Customs Office in Biała Podlaska. On the Ukrainian side the situation is better, but still drastic. Truck drivers are waiting around thirty hours for entry into Poland.
For car owners, the waiting time in Dorohusk is only two hours on both sides of the border.
At another border crossing in Hrebenne, there are no queues for exit from Poland, although presently there is a fifteen-hour wait on the Ukrainian side for HGVs.
The border with Belarus is also taking the strain, with drivers waiting between five and six hours on both sides to cross the border at some crossings.
Increasing queues and blockades have been a regular feature at border crossings since Poland joined the Schengen Zone on December 21, making entry and exiting Ukraine more difficult.
