The FINANCIAl — Every year, EU Sustainable Energy Week brings together public authorities, businesses, non-governmental organisations and the public across the EU and in the Eastern Partner countries to promote initiatives to save energy and move towards more clean, secure and efficient power.
This year, EUSEW will take place on 4-8 June. Here are the four main steps you should take to prepare a successful Energy Day as part of the week, according to the European Union.
Set your goals right
It is not sufficient to simply draw attention to your event and to inform your target groups about it. The most important thing is to help change people’s ways of thinking and behaviour. There are a number of eco-related dates on the calendar of national and international days. The 5th of June will be celebrated globally as World Environment Day – a good opportunity to gather your city’s residents and show them novel ways of saving nature, to tell them about alternative energy sources and to remind them of the forgotten ways to use and save energy.
Know your target groups
It is important not to ‘reinvent the wheel’, but to communicate with your audience and understand its needs. In doing so, you’ll be able to improve your event plans and scenarios. You can make your events more varied by using ‘live’ formats, and don’t forget the ‘immediate’ communication channels, such as Facebook, Odnoklassniki, VK and Instagram.
Join forces
If you were to tell us you had organised a large-scale project alone, this would sound like a feat worthy of a superhero. However, even superheroes have allies. For most big events, it’s likely that a designer has helped create the materials and a printing house has produced the posters and leaflets. But think outside the box; perhaps a local cycling community could provide bikes and teachers from a nearby school could organise a concert dedicated to solar energy? There are endless possibilities if you team up.
