French August Consumer Spending Below Forecasts

The FINANCIAL — French consumer spending in August was flat, French statistics agency Insee said on September 30, falling short of forecasts predicting an increase of 0.5% compared with July, according to Nasdaq.

French consumer spending was up 1.6% compared to last August.

French consumer spending in July rose 0.3%, Insee said.

In a separate press release, Insee said that industrial prices fell 0.9% in August, driven by the falling price of refined petroleum products.
