The FINANCIAL — France’s central state budget deficit narrowed in the first nine months of the year compared with the same period in 2014, the budget ministry said on October 9, according to Nasdaq.
The central state budget deficit–which does not include social security, healthcare and local authorities–stood at EUR89.7 billion at the end of August. At the same point last year, the deficit was EUR94.1 billion.
The budget ministry said spending cuts accounted for most of the decline in the deficit.
The government expects the central state budget deficit to decline in the coming months as it receives some local and corporate tax payments in the second half of the year.
