The FINANCIAL — French consumer confidence waned in October after rising to a near eight year high in September, statistics showed on October 28, according to Nasdaq.
Consumer confidence in the eurozone’s second-largest economy fell to 96 in October from 97 in September, statistics agency Insee said. Analysts polled by the Wall Street Journal had expected consumer confidence to hold at 97, the highest level since October 2007.
Insee’s monthly survey showed that households were less bullish about their future financial situation and their ability to make savings or large purchases.
French consumers in October are also more concerned about unemployment and consider living standards to have declined slightly.
