The FINANCIAL — French consumer prices rose faster in May than April, due principally to seasonal rises in food prices and tourism services ahead of the summer season, statistics agency Insee said on June 11, according to Nasdaq.
The French consumer price index in May rose 0.2% from April, when it rose only 0.1% on the month. Compared with a year earlier, CPI was 0.3% higher in May.
France’s HICP–a harmonized measure of annual price changes used by the European Central Bank–rose 0.3% on the year, also marking an acceleration in price increases from April when the HICP edged up only 0.1%.
