The FINANCIAL — French consumer spending, a motor for the country’s growth, rose slightly in February as sales of manufactured goods and energy increased, according to Nasdaq.
Household spending on goods in the eurozone’s second-largest economy rose 0.1% on the month and 3% on the year, the official statistics agency Insee said on March 31. The readings were right in line with forecasts by economists polled by The Wall Street Journal.
Spending on energy rose 0.8% in February compared with 0.6% a month earlier, but spending on manufactured goods slowed, increasing by 0.1% in February, compared with 1.5% in January.
Insee also revised its reading for consumer spending in January to a rise of 0.7% on the month from its initial reading of 0.6%.
