The FINANCIAL — UKRAINE. The Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry has refused to introduce duties for importation of oil products to Ukraine due to sudden growth of prices in world markets, Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Yurii Boiko told the Fifth TV Channel.
At the same time, Boiko accused some oil traders of speculations as for introduction of duties to justify increase in prices at their filling stations.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, in late 2010, the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry favored introduction of a Euro 80/ton duty on import of diesel fuel and a Euro 130/ton duty on import of gasoline.
In November the group of analytical experts for development of the market of oil, oil products and petroleum-refining sector at a meeting discussed the possibility of introducing a duty of EUR 120 a ton starting from 2011.
After that Ihor Kiriushyn, deputy minister of energy and coal industry, said that if imposed the duty would be less than Euro 120 per ton.
