The FINANCIAL — Russian gas pipeline systems operator OAO Gazprom reported on August 10 that its fist-quarter profit attributable to the owners totaled 382.11 billion Russian rubles, 71 percent higher than last year’s 223.01 billion rubles.
Profit before tax climbed to 496.09 billion rubles from 317.95 billion rubles a year ago, according to Nasdaq.
Total sales, net of excise tax, VAT and customs duties, increased 6 percent to 1.65 trillion rubles from 1.56 trillion rubles last year. The increase in sales is mainly driven by higher gas sales to Europe and other countries and Former Soviet Union countries, excluding the Russian Federation.
Net sales of gas increased 10 percent to 1 trillion rubles. Net sales of gas in the Russian Federation decreased 4%, due to the decrease in volumes of gas sold by 5%.
In Russia, Gazprom shares were trading at 138.49 rubles, down 2.02 percent.
