The FINANCIAL — The Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) re-elected Mr. Jemal Inaishvili as its President for the term 2016-2018.
The elections took place during the 86th CACCI Council Meeting held on November 23, 2016 in Taipei, Taiwan. The CACCI Council is the governing body of the Confederation composed of key representatives of national chambers of commerce from 27 Asian countries. Mr. Inaishvili was first elected to the position during the Confederation’s annual gathering in September 2014 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He had previously served as CACCI Vice President from 2006 to 2014.
This year’s Conference focused on the theme “The Rise of Asia: Taking a Bigger Role in the Global Economy.”
The Taipei Conference also marked the 50th Anniversary of the Confederation. CACCI was established in 1966 to provide a platform for promoting the vital role of the businessmen in the region, increasing regional business interaction, and enhancing regional economic growth. Since its organizational meeting in Taipei half a century ago, CACCI has been holding annual gatherings and Conferences to enable its members to exchange views on current developments and issues of concern to the business sector. The Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted one such gathering in October 2005 when Mr. Inaishvili was President of the Chamber at that time. The GCCI joined CACCI as a Primary Member in February 2006.
As part of the commemoration of its 50th Anniversary, CACCI presented the Illustrious Distinguished Service Award to all members who had served as CACCI President, including Mr. Inaihsvili. The Award was in recognition of their important contribution to the Confederation, their unwavering commitment to the CACCI objective of bringing businessmen in Asia together, and their continuing efforts to help promote regional cooperation and to further advance the interest of the region’s business community.
