The FINANCIAL — Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, George Kobulia attended the international conference – Georgia and the World in 2019 and delivered a speech on the prospects of Georgia’s integration into the global economy. The Conference is being held in Tbilisi Technology Park under the title of the annual edition of the British Economist, the World 2019 and is financed by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. On January 29, Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze officially opened the Conference.
Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development George Kobulia introduced the audience the main goals and challenges of Georgia’s economic growth strategy. The Minister stressed on the necessity of creation of jobs, inclusive economic growth, poverty reduction, as well as the development of the export potential and further attraction of direct foreign investments based on innovations and technologies.
George Kobulia pointed out the Free Trade Agreements as special opportunities that Georgia can offer since they provide access to the world’s largest markets of the EU, China, the CIS countries, etc. At the same time, as the Minister noted, the negotiations on the Free Trade Agreements are underway with strategic trading partners such as the United Kingdom, Israel, India, the countries of Gulf, Japan and the US.
The Minister offered vast presentation on the development of the transport-logistic systems and international recognition of the transport corridors passing through Georgia. He also highlighted the important reforms targeted at the development of maritime potential, railroad development and establishment of the international standards in the local civil aviation.
Georgia and the World 2019 is an international conference that is scheduled to be held on 29-30 January.
