The FINANCIAL — The President of Georgia, H.E. Giorgi Margvelashvili has held a meeting with the European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, Mr. Carlos Moedas.
At the meeting, President Margvelashvili has emphasized the importance of active cooperation between the Georgian Government and the Commission, especially in the areas of research and innovation. He has expressed hope that these ties will further be strengthened. President Margvelashvili has invited Moedas to Georgia.
The parties have underlined the progress in the EU-Georgia relations and positive outcomes of the Association Agreement, visa free movement and Georgia’s integration into the Energy Union.
The necessity of further advancing sectoral cooperation has been highlighted. According to President Margvelashvili, Georgia will use all the opportunities to comply with EU standards, norms and practices in the areas of energy, transport and communication, agriculture, environment, culture, science and innovation.
As emphasized, science and innovation are one of the top priorities on the domestic agenda of Georgia, according to the Administration of the President of Georgia.
