The FINANCIAL — Within the framework of his working visit to Turkmenistan, the Georgian Vice Premier, Foreign Minister held a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov.
The Ministers noted with satisfaction the increasing level of co-operation between the two countries. Rashid Meredov thanked the Georgian Vice Prime Minister for his participation in the Conference on the International Energy Charter. For his part, Mikheil Janelidze highlighted the importance of Georgia’s participation in the activities conducted within the framework of the Energy Charter and took special note of Turkmenistan’s successful chairmanship of the Organization.
Underlining the huge potential of co-operation between Georgia and Turkmenistan in the areas of transport and energy, the sides highlighted the paramount importance of the five-party Lapis Lazuli Corridor Agreement. The sides expressed the hope that through respective political support and the private sector’s due participation, the Lapis Lazuli Corridor will contribute to the development of the countries involved in the project and their connection to Europe.
The sides also spoke about the essential role of the two countries in implementing the international energy projects for the development of not only Georgia and Turkmenistan, but of the region as a whole, according to MFA of Georgia.
