The FINANCIAL — Despite rather small harvest volumes of wheat in Georgia, the domestic wheat almost does not get in demand. According to farmers from Kakheti region, they can not sell wheat even at the minimum price level.
According to Arcadiy Mekereshvily, the chairman of the Association of grain growers, the low price of the import product became the main reason of such situation. The price of 4-grade wheat, imported to Poti, totals 320 lari/t (197 USD/t), as opposed to Georgia wheat of the same quality at the price of 350-400 lari/t (216-247 USD/t).
