The FINANCIAL — The EU-funded European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD) has presented the Local Development Strategy for the Georgian town of Lagodekhi.
The plans were presented to representatives of the Municipality Heads in local communities, members of the Municipal Assembly, and representatives of Lagodekhi Local Action Group (LAG) last week, according to EU Neighbours East Info.
The strategy addresses a wide range of local priorities and provides a long-term vision for the Municipal development. The purpose of the presentation was to introduce the plans to the municipal authorities and ensure that the Lagodekhi Local Development Strategy is in line with the priorities of the local budget developed by the Municipal administration.
“During the elaboration process of the Local Development Strategy, Municipality management was actively involved in LAG meetings. We consider this document as a unique opportunity to have long-term, common vision of the development, which is based on active engagement of the local population. The Local Development Strategy will help us to identify local budget priorities and plan the municipal budget more effectively in the future”, stated Karlo Jamburia, Head of Lagodekhi Municipality.
The EU funded ENPARD programme has been implemented in Georgia since 2013. The main goal of ENPARD is to reduce rural poverty in Georgia through support to rural development and agriculture. Programme assistance is provided to the government and NGOs working directly with communities on the ground.
