The FINANCIAL — The share of Russian grains in the general import volumes of the product to Georgia totals 90-95%. In terms of sharp rising of prices for Russian grains, the country will consider the possibility to import grains from Kazakhstan and Ukraine, declared the Head of the Association of Grain Growers, Levan Silagava.
According to him, further devaluation of RUR, increasing of the export duties on wheat and other negative factors will affect the prices of Russian grains. And in terms of a sharp rising of the grain prices, Georgia will have to diversify the market.
L.Silagava noted that Georgia can purchase grains from Kazakhstan and Ukraine, but if the new markets can not offer satisfactory prices, it will be considered to get access to the EU markets. The head of the Association noted that the logistic component is one of the most important factors for grain imports to Georgia, according to APK-Inform.
Development of the market of grains and its by products in Georgia is one of the major topics at the international conference Georgia Agro Forum -2015, to be held on November 19 in ExpoGeorgia, Tbilisi.
