The FINANCIAL — According to The FINANCIAL’s study Georgia spends on average 70,000 USD daily on the country’s advertising campaign on BBC World News channel.
The total cost that is based on BBC world News official rate card should reach USD 2,100,000 since the TV campaign started.
The 25 second commercial shows people speaking most probably with God about their success in Progress combating corruption and in the Ease of Doing Business rating. The video is attributing Transparency International (TI) as the source of information.
BBC World News is the BBC’s international news and current affairs television channel. It has the largest audience of any BBC channel and any news channel in the world. Unlike the BBC’s UK, domestic channels, BBC World News is not funded by a license fee, instead, it is funded commercially by advertising.
BBC now airs 25 second TV commercials every 30 minutes, 24 hours a day.
Information about Georgia on BBC is not listed among its current campaigns on the BBC website.

On March 16 Transparency International Georgia, said Georgia’s international advertising campaign recently launched by the Government has claimed that Georgia was “first worldwide in progress to combat corruption” and wrongly attributed this assessment to Transparency International (TI).
“TI never made such a statement, which incorrectly interprets the results of TI’s Corruption Perception Index,” TI said in its official statement.
“The advertisement in question was broadcast on the BBC and CNN in February. TI Georgia and the TI Secretariat both disputed the advertisement. A corrected version of the advertisement is slated to run on both networks. TI is happy to assist the Government of Georgia in using its data and assessments accurately to illustrate its achievements in the struggle against corruption,” the organization said.
