The FINANCIAL — The Clima East Expert Facility Assignment has provided a workshop for Georgian officials on the approximation of Georgian climate laws to align with EU legislation.
Specifically, the workshop focused on laws relating to fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-gases) and Ozone-Depleting Substances (ODS). Clima East experts gave practical advice on the implementation of legal regulations which need to be introduced under the Association Agreement, according to EU Neighbours East Info.
The workshop included a presentation focused on the findings and recommendations of ClimaEast’s project on “Support to Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation in Russia and ENP East countries”. The findings focused on F-gases, the outcomes on the approximation of ODS laws, and relevant articles of the EU regulation. The presentation talked about the importance of the relevant articles and gave advice on how to implement them in Georgian law.
F-gases and Ozone-Depleting substances are powerful greenhouse gases that trap heat inside the atmosphere, contribute to global warming and damage the ozone layer. They can be found in old equipment. The regulation of emissions of these gases decreases their impact on climate change.
