The FINANCIAL — According to Tamaz Kunchulia, the academician of agricultural sciences, in the nearest future, Georgia will lost own wheat production facilities.
To date, the share of domestic wheat volumes in the general carry-over stocks of the grain totals 8% only, and the share continues decreasing.
According to T.Kunchulia, wheat sowing areas in the country continues decreasing: five years ago, agrarians sowed wheat throughout over 200 thsd ha, to date wheat sowings occupy 50 thsd ha only. The deficit of financial resources and agricultural technical equipment for processing of agricultural areas caused development of such situation.
According to official data, the consumption of domestic wheat volumes totals 20% from the general consumed grain volumes in the country.
