The FINANCIAL — Georgia for the first time took part in an annual gathering of the Caribbean community – the Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR) – held in the framework of the 70th session of the United Nation’s General Assembly in New York.
Georgian Foreign Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili addressed the COFCOR participants, underlining the increasing level of co-operation between Georgia and Caribbean countries and expressing the readiness to further deepen co-operation. The Minister underlined that Georgia actively works in this direction exchanging visits and establishing diplomatic representations. Given this, the Minister underlined the opening of the Embassy of Georgia in Cuba that significantly facilitates the enhancement of close co-operation with the Caribbean countries, and noted that Georgia will extend its diplomatic presence in all member states of the CARICOM in the near future.
“Georgia is a reliable friend and safe partner who contributes to global peace and security,” Giorgi Kvirikashvili said at the meeting.
Particular emphasis was put on prospects for development of co-operation in the spheres of good governance, justice, education and tourism, according to MFA of Georgia.
