The FINANCIAL — According to Civil Georgia, Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze and his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian said after talks in Tbilisi on June 8 that bilateral cooperation and issues related with President Saakashvili’s trip to Yerevan scheduled for June 24-25 where discussed during the meeting.
Issue of high cost of cargo transportation via Georgia was also raised during the meeting on which Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan has complained recently.
Nalbandian said that Armenian businessmen had questions regarding transportation of cargo via Georgia, “because transportation of freight from any points of the world to Poti is much cheaper, than from Poti to Yerevan.”
“Naturally, certain questions arise on the matter… but there are no issues between our two countries that cannot be solved through negotiations and agreements,” the Armenian Foreign Minister said at a joint news conference with his Georgian counterpart.
Grigol Vashadze said that this issue was not directly in the competence of the Foreign Ministries, but “we will carry out a type of a probe into the matter; we will study this issue and talk about it.”
“There is nothing scandalous, problematic or something impossible to resolve in this issue,” the Georgian Foreign Minister added.
