The FINANCIAL — Delegation of the Georgian Foreign Ministry led by First Deputy Minister David Zalkaliani paid a working visit to the State of Qatar from 5 to 7 February 2017.
Within the framework of the visit, first round of political consultations was held between the foreign Ministries of the two countries. The consultations from the side of Qatar were chaired by Secretary General of the Ministry Dr. Ahmad Hassan Al-Hamadi, according to MFA of Georgia.
Bilateral relations and prospects for the further development of co-operation were main issues on the agenda of the political consultations on 6 February. The sides also discussed issues relating to the exchange of high- and highest level visits between the two countries.
Both sides expressed their interest and readiness to promote sectoral relations, in particular, co-operation in the area of tourism. The Georgian delegation briefed the Qatari side on the investment environment in Georgia and ongoing infrastructure projects
The sides also discussed global security challenges. The Georgian delegation spoke about the security situation and human rights violations in Georgia’s occupied territories and across the occupation line.
Both sides expressed their readiness to contribute to further strengthening of co-operation and agreed to hold next round of consultations in Tbilisi, in 2018.
