The FINANCIAL — Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze held a meeting with U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly (D-IN) and a group of his advisors who arrived in Georgia on 10 October.Â
The sides highlighted the need to further deepen close co-operation within the framework of strategic partnership, including in the areas of defence, security and economy. Special attention was paid to U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry’s visit to Georgia on 6 July and to the particular importance of the memorandum on deepening partnership in the areas of defence and security between Georgia and the U.S.
The Minister provided Senator Joe Donnelly with information regarding the difficult humanitarian situation in Georgia’s occupied territories. The sides also exchanged views on the issues relating to regional security, according to MFA of Georgia.
Senator Joe Donnelly reaffirmed the U.S. government’s strong support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and stated that the U.S. legislative body will continue to actively support the country’s democratic and economic development, as well as its European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
